Team Roskilde Junior raced E3 Saxo Classic

Last weekend Team NPV – Carl Ras Roskilde Junior, also known as the fastest kids from Denmark, traveled to Belgium to race the E3 Saxo Classic. Team Roskilde Junior proved their mettle as they put a strong performance during this spring classic.

Preparation is everything

The Danish team has been well prepared for this spring classic in Belgium. After some training weeks in Spain to tune their engines, the team felt surely race ready. April was a month of successful races for the young cyclist, taking on local races in Denmark along with competitions in The Netherlands and Belgium. After some good results in previous classics, they concluded this month by participating in the E3 Saxo Classic Juniors.

The racers arrived in the hotel the evening prior to the race to make sure there was enough time to prepare themselves optimally for the day after. A last massage, taping up any potential sore spots and a last check of all the difficult sections of the race – the team is ready to go.

After a good night of sleep, the team gathered for breakfast followed by a tactic meeting. Due to unfortunate injuries, the team consisted of four riders instead of six. Nevertheless, everyone knew their specific role set out before starting the challenge – not only aiming to perform well but also striving together as one unit towards experiencing racing in Belgium at its best.

With one last stretch it was finally time to pin on a number. Race time!

Fast racing

The 120 kilometer course featured some of Belgium’s most legendary climbs, including Paterberg and Oude Kwaremont. A race around these winding roads is always serving great views and scenery.

Team NPV – Carl Ras Roskilde Junior enjoyed a fantastic race in Harelbeke! It went very fast from the start and the competition was fierce from the beginning. After some kilometers of cobbles, steep hills and hard racing, the race ended up in a sprint. The team did a good job in positioning and with some strong efforts of the whole team, Patrick Frydkjær came 7th at the finish line.

The team is very happy with the results from this race. It’s never easy to race in Belgium, and what a great job they did!
