Hub Maintenance
How-To: Maintenan your hubs
To keep your Artech wheels in good conditions, its recommended to regularly maintain your Artech hubs.
- After you have removed the front wheel from your bike, remove the disc rotor. Next remove the end-cap from the non-drive side and next pull the axle from the drive side. Clean the end-cap and axle and carefully check if the O-ring positioned on the drive side of the axle is in place and in good condition.
- Install the axle back into the front hub on the drive side and next click on the end-cap at the non-drive side. Next, mount the disc rotors on the hub and make sure you mount the lockring with the amount of torque as recommended by the rotor manufacturer.
- After you have removed the rear wheel of your bike, remove the disc rotor and free-hub body. To remove the free-hub body from the hub there is no need to disassemble the cassette from the free-hub body.
- After the free-hub body with cassette has been removed, you are able to remove the ratchets, spring, distance bush and axle. Clean all components carefully and inspect them for wear or irregularities.
- Before re-installing the components properly grease the outside and face tooth area of the ratchets with the official Scope engagement grease.
- The axle system of the Artech front and rear wheels are developed in such way that it ensures the wheels run smoothly when installed in the bike without any adjustments. Since the through axles have a significant clamping force which could result in a tension on the bearings, the Artech hubs are designed with an intentional buffer.
- As a result, when the Artech wheels are not installed in a bike there is a slight movement possible on the axle system. This movement is intentionally and will disappear when the wheels are installed in the bike and the trough axles are tightened according to specification with the correct amount of torque.
